I photograph people close-up in extreme detail where pores and hair become like orifices and entries to the body. While beautiful, the body becomes strange at this closeness—the intimacy we usually only access in bed with someone. I ritualistically shatter these portraits and sit with what remains, reassembling fragments where the self becomes rendered strange.
